Founded in 1986 in Auburn, Alabama, by Tom and Bettye Cooksey, Apartment Services & Management, Inc. (ASM) is a second-generation, family-owned management company offering expertise in all phases of property management. ASM has earned an outstanding reputation in the affordable housing industry. With a current portfolio of over 100 affordable housing properties, ASM provides management and oversight for HOME, LIHTC, HOME/TC, HUD, USDARD, BOND/TC, and conventional properties. All are located in the state of Alabama. Most are LIHTC in multiple configurations, including TC only, RD515/TC, HOME/TC, BOND/TC, and HUD/TC. Many of ASM’s properties also have tenant assistance in the form of project based SEC8, SEC8-Vouchers, RD/RA, and Owner Rental Assistance.
ASM’s home office in Auburn is the workplace for over twenty employees, including company owners and a highly-trained and effective staff that reflects a combined experience of more than 175 years. ASM staff designations include: STAR, COS, COS-RH, RHP-E, FHI, C3P, and RAHE.
On-site property management staff includes 75 full-time and 15 part-time employees. ASM’s office also houses two related companies. Apartment Developers, Inc. handles syndication and loan origination aspects of projects under development. Southeast Maintenance, Inc. is a state licensed and bonded general contractor and municipal utility contractor, supervising original construction as well as renovation and maintenance projects throughout the state.
